WhatsApp Account Recovery

A WhatsApp ban notice rarely explains which message, report, or pattern triggered it. Personal numbers and Business API accounts are banned through different mechanisms and need different evidence, so the first step is working out which applies to you.

What a WhatsApp ban actually is

WhatsApp bans personal numbers mainly in response to user reports and automated spam detection. Business API accounts are governed additionally by a quality rating that tracks block rates and user feedback on templates — an account can be restricted after the rating drops, independent of any single report.

The ban notice tells you the number is banned. It does not tell you which messages, templates or sending pattern caused it.

Why numbers and API accounts get restricted

Common causes include bulk or unsolicited messaging to contacts who have not opted in, message content that falls into a restricted category, a quality rating that has declined over successive campaigns, a number that was previously used by someone else and carries report history, or sending through unauthorised third-party tools that violate WhatsApp's terms.

For Business API accounts specifically, template rejection patterns and a falling quality score are often the earliest warning before a full restriction.

Diagnostic process

We review the ban or restriction message, the opt-in record for the contact list in use, recent message templates and campaign content, and — for API accounts — the quality rating trend and template rejection history in the Business Manager. We also check the number's history, since a reused or ported SIM can carry report history from a previous owner.

The recovery request is built around what that review actually finds, not a generic template.

Independence and limitations

Policy Fix Experts is an independent consultancy. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or partnered with WhatsApp, Meta Platforms, Inc., Facebook or Instagram.

We cannot guarantee that a banned number will be reinstated, and we cannot influence WhatsApp's automated enforcement systems or review timelines. Some bans, particularly on repeat-offending numbers, are not recoverable, and we will say so rather than sell a request we don't expect to work.

Official process

Start with the platform's own free routes

Every platform reviews appeals for free through its own tools. We prepare the evidence; the decision is always theirs.

Before you act

What makes a recoverable case unrecoverable

These are the four things we most often have to undo before we can start.

  1. 01

Re-registering the same number repeatedly without changing the sending pattern that caused the ban.

  2. 02

Switching to a new SIM or number without first understanding what actually triggered the restriction.

  3. 03

Buying a "pre-verified" number from a third party — these often carry undisclosed report history.

  4. 04

Ignoring a declining quality rating on the Business API until it results in a full restriction.

How a case runs

Five stages, in sequence

Case review comes first, and if our read is that the account is not recoverable, that is what we tell you.

  1. 01

    Case review

You send the suspension notice and account details. We give you an initial read on what is actually being enforced and whether the case is worth pursuing.

  2. 02

    Audit

A full examination of the account, the website, the creatives and the business documentation — including account history, not just the current state.

  3. 03

    Remediation

A specific corrective action plan. We either hand it to you to implement or implement it for you, depending on the engagement.

  4. 04

    Appeal

The appeal is drafted around the actual violation and submitted with supporting evidence — not a template, and not a resubmission of what was already rejected.

  5. 05

    Stay compliant

Reinstatement is not the end of it. You get a post-reinstatement compliance checklist, with optional ongoing monitoring.

Questions

Asked on almost every case

Can you guarantee my WhatsApp number will be unbanned?
No. WhatsApp makes the final decision, and some bans — particularly repeat offences — are not recoverable. We give you an honest read at case review.
Are you affiliated with WhatsApp or Meta?
No. Policy Fix Experts is an independent consultancy with no affiliation to WhatsApp, Meta Platforms, Inc., Facebook or Instagram.
Does WhatsApp charge to review a ban appeal?
No. You can submit a request for review yourself at no cost through the app or Business Manager. Our fee is for the diagnosis and the evidence behind the request.
Is a personal number ban handled the same way as a Business API restriction?
No — they go through different systems with different evidence requirements, so we treat them separately from the diagnosis stage onward.
What do you need to start?
The ban message, the number with country code, your BSP name if you use the API, and recent message examples or templates.
